Former TV Host Regina Re Held with 3 Relatives Over Mother’s Tragic Murder in Loresho

Former TV presenter Regina Wambui Gitau, popularly known as Regina Re, is being held by police alongside three family members following the murder of her 86-year-old mother, Dorita Lasinder Macharia, in Loresho, Nairobi.

Neighbors and relatives are still in deep shock following the October 30 incident. Investigators report that the elderly woman was found dead with a severe neck injury inside her home after a heated family dispute.

According to DCI homicide detectives, the trouble began when the late Dorita caught her granddaughter, Thandie Malaika, with her boyfriend in a bedroom. An argument broke out, and the elderly woman ordered her out of the house. Shortly after being locked inside with her grandmother, Thandie rushed out screaming that the old lady was bleeding heavily.

Detectives at Kibera Law Courts revealed that Regina Re and her brother were caught attempting to clean up the crime scene. Kibera Magistrate’s Court granted police 10 days to detain the four suspects at Gigiri Police Station as investigations continue.

“We are seeking full truth on who killed our mother,” a devastated family member said outside the court.
