FG Begins N50k Relief Payments to Vulnerable Nigerians, Reveals How Beneficiaries Will Receive Funds

According to a report by The Punch on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Federal Government has commenced the payment of ₦50,000 monthly cash support to vulnerable Nigerians under its National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, announced the development in a statement issued on October 30, 2026.

According to the minister, the programme is a presidential initiative aimed at helping low-income households cope with rising food prices and the increasing cost of essential goods.

Doro explained that each eligible beneficiary would receive ₦50,000 monthly, adding that the intervention would be reviewed periodically based on changes in the cost of living.

He also disclosed that the ministry had partnered with licensed digital financial service providers to ensure that payments reach beneficiaries securely.

The minister stated that successful beneficiaries would receive text messages requesting their consent. Once consent is granted, the money would be transferred directly into their bank accounts or mobile wallets.

The approved payment platforms and their USSD codes include ALAT by Wema (94523#), MoMo PSB (6710#), NairaGram (72600#), OPay (95520#) and Moniepoint (557327#).

Meanwhile, the Youth Economic Intervention and De-radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP) disclosed on Tuesday that payments were ongoing, with beneficiaries receiving notifications through their registered phone numbers.

It advised applicants whose status showed “NOT SELECTED” to remain patient and await subsequent batches, although it did not guarantee future selection.

Doro warned Nigerians that the relief programme was completely free, stressing that beneficiaries were not required to pay agents or submit fresh applications.

He also cautioned against fraudsters requesting personal identification numbers or Bank Verification Numbers.

Anyone with concerns was advised to contact the official NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.
