The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has confirmed the official fuel price adjustments, which take effect from Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
The noticeable relief is for users of low-sulphur diesel. Wholesale diesel 0.005% will decrease by R1.20 per litre, while diesel 0.05% will come down by R1.10 per litre.
Petrol motorists will see a much smaller adjustment, with both 93 and 95 unleaded petrol decreasing by just one cent per litre.
The following adjustments will apply from Wednesday:
For motorists filling up in KwaZulu-Natal and other coastal areas, the November official prices are:
Diesel figures are wholesale prices, meaning the final pump price at individual filling stations may differ.
The reductions come after National Treasury announced temporary fuel levy relief as part of a R10-billion intervention to ease pressure on households and businesses.
From 4 November, the general fuel levy will be reduced by R1.50 per litre for petrol and R3 per litre for diesel until 1 December 2026.
Despite the tax relief, rising international oil prices, a weaker rand and an increased slate levy have absorbed much of the potential benefit for petrol motorists.
For the road transport industry, the R1.20 diesel reduction will offer some breathing room, although operators will still be watching fuel costs closely as they calculate the cost of keeping trucks moving.
The November adjustments take effect at midnight on Tuesday, 3 November, and apply from Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
