Chiefs Agree Terms With Explosive Free Agent Star—Medical Date Revealed
BOMBSHELL: Kaizer Chiefs Close In On Bafana Bafana Star As New Signing Nears Completion
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — 3 NOVEMBER 2026
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly on the verge of securing another major signing, with Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana edging closer to a move to Naturena following a breakthrough in negotiations.
The latest developments have raised expectations among Amakhosi supporters, with information emerging that the Soweto giants have reached an agreement with the 27-year-old winger over personal terms.
According to reports, the two parties have made significant progress, paving the way for Mokwana to undergo a medical examination before the proposed transfer can be officially completed.
The medical is expected to take place later this week, with the final formalities still needing to be concluded before Chiefs can formally introduce their potential new recruit.
Mokwana is currently a free agent after parting ways with Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis in September 2026. This means Chiefs could secure his services without paying a transfer fee, making the proposed deal an attractive opportunity for the club.
The former Sekhukhune United attacker previously attracted interest from Amakhosi in 2024 but eventually opted to continue his career abroad, joining Espérance.
His time outside South Africa also included a loan spell with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hazem, where he gained further experience before becoming available on the transfer market.
The potential arrival of Mokwana comes at an important moment for Fernando Da Cruz’s team, who are looking to improve their attacking options following an inconsistent start to the 2026/27 campaign.
Chiefs have struggled to consistently turn attacking opportunities into goals, and the addition of a player with Mokwana’s pace, directness and ability to take on defenders could provide a welcome boost.
The Bafana Bafana international is also familiar with South African football, having previously established himself as an influential performer at Sekhukhune United before making his move to Tunisia.
His international experience could further strengthen the squad, particularly as Chiefs look to build a more competitive team capable of challenging for major honours.
Former Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune previously encouraged the club to consider signing Mokwana, highlighting his dribbling ability, creativity and attacking qualities.
For Amakhosi supporters, the latest breakthrough will certainly be encouraging.
However, until the medical is successfully completed and the club makes an official announcement, the transfer should be regarded as pending final confirmation.
If everything proceeds as expected, Mokwana could become another important addition to Da Cruz’s attacking department at Naturena.
