Bien Says He Has Seen No Work From Ruto, Questions Bayern Munich Billions
Kenyan musician Bien-Aimé Baraza has sharply criticised President William Ruto. He says he has seen little real work done for ordinary Kenyans.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Oga Obinna on Monday 2 November 2026 Bien dismissed roads and major projects as basic rights. “Mimi sijaona kazi Ruto amefanyia Wakenya. Barabara ni right yetu,” he said.
He also accused the President of misusing public funds. According to the singer billions of shillings are being spent to bring Bayern Munich to Kenya while local footballers remain unpaid their allowances.
His comments centred on a friendly between Bayern Munich and Ajax Amsterdam. The match is planned to open the Raila Odinga International Stadium on 5 January 2027. The venue was formerly known as Talanta Stadium.
Bien argued that the problem is not the stadium itself. He pointed to its inflated cost and the neglect of local sports talent. He said the Sports Ministry is failing elite athletes and local leagues.
The government has insisted that private sponsors will fund the fixture and not taxpayers. Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi has repeatedly said no public money is involved. Reports estimate the appearance fees at hundreds of millions of shillings. A court petition now seeks disclosure of the financial deals.
The stadium cost rose from about KSh 35 billion to roughly KSh 45.8 billion. Harambee Stars players have also faced unpaid allowances. Clips of the interview have drawn thousands of views online as Kenya prepares to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
