‘Allow people live their lives’ – Empress Gifty defends Florence Obinim amid BBL allegations

Gospel musician Empress Gifty has spoken out in defence of Florence Obinim following the criticism and speculation surrounding the latter’s appearance, which sparked claims that she had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

Empress Gifty questioned why some social media users, particularly women, had resorted to mocking Florence over the alleged procedure instead of considering the physical and emotional challenges that come with surgery.

In a video shared on social media on November 1, 2026, the musician said undergoing surgery requires courage and people who have experienced it understand the anxiety and uncertainty involved.

She argued that celebrities should not become targets for public frustration simply because of decisions they make about their bodies.

“Florence Obinim went for a programme, and when you read the comments, people were talking about BBL. What is even more disappointing is that some of the comments came from women. Do you even have the courage to enter the theatre?” she asked.

Empress Gifty drew on her own experience to make her point, revealing that she had previously undergone a procedure to reduce the size of her breasts. She explained that after losing weight, she researched ways to maintain firm skin because she did not want her breasts to sag.

“When you all knew me, I used to have big breasts, but now, I’ve made it small. I didn’t want my breasts to sag after the surgery, so I did a lot of research to make my skin firm after the weight loss. I knew that would make me beautiful and I did it because I could afford it,” she said.

The gospel musician also pushed back against the tendency to describe people who undergo cosmetic procedures as artificial, arguing that individuals should be free to make personal choices about their appearance and how they spend their money.

She further cautioned social media users against directing their personal frustrations at public figures, who also face challenges away from the spotlight.

Her comments come amid online discussions about Florence Obinim’s appearance, although the speculation about the gospel musician undergoing a BBL has not been confirmed.
