A Boy Sold His Kidney, Bought A Bike To Feed His Aged Mother, 2 Days Later Bike Was Stolen—Shaibu

According to a report by Channels TV, on Monday November 2, 2026, Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, leveled grave allegations against the federal government, highlighting the extreme depths of poverty under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Shaibu claimed that severe economic pressure has driven scores of citizens to resort to selling their organs simply to survive.

Highlighting the human cost of the current economic crisis, Shaibu shared a harrowing account of young Nigerians turning to organ trafficking out of desperation:

“The other day he met with I was telling you about young people selling their their their kidneys for survival. We met with 168, 168, the number 168—young people who have sold their kidneys.”

Detailing one particular case, he illustrated how precarious and tragic these survival attempts often become:

“One of them had a pathetic case. He sold his kidney, bought a bike so that he can use for business so that he could feed his aged mother. Two days later, the bike was—the motorcycle was stolen. Now he’s back to square one moving around with one kidney.”

Shaibu strongly condemned the grim reality, emphasizing that such illegal acts underscore a profound breakdown in governance and societal welfare:

“The sale of a body part on his own is a crime under our laws and it is an aberration. It is a sin. It is a sin before God.”
