Young woman in an ANC T-shirt accused of being used to thirst-trap for votes

A woman supporting the ANC has attracted attention after sharing a mirror photograph of herself wearing an ANC T-shirt and openly showing her support for the party. The picture prompted criticism from people who accused the ANC of using attractive young women to attract attention and influence voters through social media. Some critics described the approach as an attempt to use young women to thirst-trap for votes, while arguing that such tactics would not change their political views.

The post is silent on what the woman intended by sharing the photograph, since the post does not say whether she was part of an organised campaign or simply supporting the party on her own. The post also does not say where she posted the picture or when. Those details matter because they would establish the context of her post. Without them, the image shows only her in the ANC T-shirt, and the criticism about the party using young women remains an accusation rather than a confirmed strategy.

Some viewers criticised the ANC, with some saying the party was using attractive young women to attract attention and others saying such tactics would not change their votes. Some said the woman was simply expressing her support and that the criticism had been unfair, while others said the party had a pattern of using social media influencers during campaigns.

What has not been settled is whether the woman has responded to the criticism or whether the ANC has commented on the accusation. The post does not establish whether her post was part of an organised campaign or her own choice. The public is waiting for more information, because the picture has fuelled criticism of the party’s campaign tactics without any confirmation of what was behind it.
