UDA MP Sylvanus Osoro Clarifies “Major Announcement” Amid Talk Of Realignments Ahead Of Ruto Visit

South Mugirango MP and National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro has clarified that the major announcements expected during President William Ruto’s visit to the Gusii region will focus on development. He dismissed speculation that they involve political realignments.

In a Facebook post on Monday Osoro said Ruto will tour Gusii Nation from Monday November 9 to Wednesday November 11. The visit will include a series of development projects. He said a full itinerary would be shared once it is finalised.

He highlighted the launch of the Sengeny-Openda-Karungu-Kiagware Road and the Nyakeyo-Nyamasege-Nyakorere-Moma roads. He added that residents should expect surprises.

Many people took the talk of major announcements to mean political team-ups. Osoro responded by saying not everything is about politics. He joked that people can be very funny.

He explained that Nyamira County has raised several concerns on roads. The visit will address roads not only in Nyamira but also in Bobasi and Bonchari and Nyaribari Masaba. Announcements will also cover Nyamira Stadium which needs attention.

Osoro noted that Bonchari MP Onchoke has joined the broad-based government and supports the President.

He urged those questioning progress at Suneka Airstrip to visit the site. He said work has started and is ongoing.

Osoro further said Kisii Stadium will be completed by February next year. He said construction is progressing well.

The emphasis he stressed remains on delivering development rather than political drama.

The visit comes as leaders across the country jostle for position ahead of the 2027 elections. Residents of the region are now waiting for the full itinerary and the promised surprises.
