Social media personality, Saida Boj has criticized Nigerians celebrating Halloween and choosing foreign festivities over their own cultural traditions.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Saida asked Nigerians what they know about Halloween, its origins and why it is celebrated. According to her, many Nigerians celebrate it without understanding the history.
She admonished Nigerians to take more pride in celebrating local festivals like the Calabar Carnival, Egungun festival, Eyo festival, amidst others.
In her own view, Nigerians lose respect from other countries because of their eagerness to prioritize foreign cultures above theirs.
In her words, “Oversabi don finish Nigerians. Them no rate us but we rate them too much”.
