Today’s Headlines: It’s Not Tinubu’s Fault, He Shouldn’t Be Called- Amadi, Adeboye Jonathan Protest

The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Dr Sam Amadi has said President Bola Tinubu should not be blamed for the controversy surrounding the voter register recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Amadi maintained that the responsibility for addressing the alleged irregularities in the voters register rests with INEC, insisting that the President should be treated like every other political competitor.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, he argued that the President has no direct responsibility for managing the electoral process and should not be expected to intervene in the commission’s affairs.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has talked down accusations directed at him of purportedly carrying a placard in a prayer walk during the time of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The Presidential Campaign Council of the opposition party — the African Democratic Congress — has challenged the All Progressives Congress to account for President Bola Tinubu’s failure to fulfil his 2023 campaign promise on electricity.

After years of being single, the Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Lagos, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, has introduced his new wife, Pastor Mo Odukoya, to his congregation during Sunday service on November 2, 2026, at the church headquarters in Ilupeju, Lagos State.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has defended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying that although painful, they are beginning to yield positive results.

Shettima spoke on Monday at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally held at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

He acknowledged the hardship caused by the reforms but said transformation required tough decisions, likening Tinubu’s leadership style to that of Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, who turned a struggling colony into a global financial hub.

He said, “President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms is something we have seen, though painful, you can agree with me that they are beginning to yield positive results.

The African Action Congress in Oyo State has urged opposition parties across Nigeria to consider boycotting the 2027 general elections if the Federal Government and security agencies fail to guarantee the safety of political actors and voters.

The party made the call in a Monday statement signed by its Oyo State Chairman, Kayode Babayomi, expressing concern over what it described as escalating political violence, intimidation and thuggery ahead of the elections.

It cited the recent attack on its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, as an example of the threats facing opposition politicians during campaign activities.

The Vice-Chancellor of KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. Olajumoke Morenikeji, on Monday, called on the Federal Government to extend the Nigerian Education Loan Fund scheme to students in private universities.

Morenikeji made the call while addressing journalists ahead of the university’s 10th anniversary and sixth convocation ceremony, scheduled to hold between October 26 and November 5, 2026, at the institution’s premises in Ibadan, the state capital.

She stressed that students in private institutions were also Nigerians and should not be excluded from government-supported educational financing because of the ownership status of their universities.

The VC said, “NELFUND should be made available to private institutions. Some of these students are not coming from wealthy backgrounds. Attending private institutions does not mean their parents are rich. I want to appeal to the Federal Government to shift ground. The children in private institutions are also Nigerians.”
