The Reaction from the Crowd Alone Should Tell You Something; Grounds No Good – Bongo to Afenyo

Social commentator Bongo Ideas has criticised the Minority Leader following a video showing him addressing what appeared to be a youth programme and appealing for another opportunity to lead Ghana in 2028.

In a Facebook post, Bongo Ideas shared his reaction to the video with the caption, “The reaction from the crowd alone should tell you something. Grounds no good.” His comments questioned the opposition’s efforts to regain public support less than two years after leaving government.

He described the crowd’s noisy response to the Minority Leader’s appeal as a possible indication of growing dissatisfaction. According to Bongo Ideas, the reaction suggests that many young people have not forgotten their experiences under the opposition’s previous eight years in power.

The commentator argued that the opposition cannot expect voters to overlook its past record simply by asking for another chance. He also referenced the controversial procurement of a stone from Israel for the National Cathedral project, which reportedly involved millions of dollars, as an example of decisions that continue to attract criticism.

Bongo Ideas maintained that young people are politically aware and should not be underestimated. He suggested that they are increasingly demanding accountability, transparency and practical solutions rather than being persuaded by political promises.

The comments have also drawn attention to the wider challenge of rebuilding public trust in Ghana’s political system. Political parties seeking another mandate must demonstrate that they have learned from previous mistakes and are prepared to introduce meaningful changes.

His post ultimately serves as a warning to political leaders that public confidence cannot be restored through appeals alone. Instead, they must earn voters’ trust through credible leadership, accountability and genuine reforms.
