Rituals, UK Infidelity and BBC Exposé: 5 Claims Owusu Bempah Has Made Against Pastor Mensa Otabil
A public disagreement has emerged between the founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, and the founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, following the latter’s recent comments about prophets in Ghana.
Owusu Bempah has strongly criticised Otabil over his remarks on the prophetic ministry, accusing the renowned preacher of attempting to discredit prophets and undermine their influence within the Ghanaian Christian community.
In his response, the controversial prophet made several allegations against Otabil, questioning his position on prophecy and accusing him of making comments that unfairly tarnish the reputation of prophets and their followers.
He also raised allegations concerning some pastors he claimed were closely associated with the ICGC founder, including claims of infidelity and his alleged intervention in a separate controversy involving one of Otabil’s associates.
Owusu Bempah further threatened to disclose information he claimed to possess about Otabil and people within his circle if the ICGC founder continued making statements he considered damaging to the prophetic ministry.
One of the issues he raised involved an alleged infidelity scandal concerning a UK-based pastor whom he described as a close associate of Otabil.
Owusu Bempah claimed the pastor had introduced a female church member to a man who eventually married her but allegedly continued having an intimate relationship with the woman after her marriage.
He questioned why Otabil would allegedly protect the pastor while making critical comments about other ministers of God.
The Glorious Word Power Ministries International leader also claimed to have intervened in a separate matter involving a friend of Otabil, which he said could have developed into an international scandal.
According to him, the controversy had the potential to attract attention from major international media organisations, including the BBC and CNN.
He alleged that he personally contacted the individual involved and persuaded him to discontinue the matter.
In another allegation, Owusu Bempah questioned Otabil’s purported visits to an individual he described as a spiritualist in the Nkwakwa area.
He alleged that the ICGC founder travelled from Accra to consult the unidentified individual and questioned the purpose of the alleged visits.
He also referred to an incident in which Otabil was reportedly knocked down by a vehicle at Lindado, raising questions about the reason for his presence in the area and what he intended to obtain for his church.
However, Owusu Bempah did not provide evidence to substantiate the allegations he made against the ICGC founder.
The prophet subsequently warned that he would make further revelations about Otabil if the latter continued making public statements he considered attacks on prophets in Ghana.
The dispute follows comments attributed to Otabil in which he reportedly expressed concern about the conduct of some religious leaders, describing many people who identify themselves as pastors as dishonest.
Owusu Bempah accused him of using such remarks to undermine the prophetic ministry and create the impression that most prophets in Ghana were not genuine men of God.
He also took issue with comments attributed to Otabil suggesting that approximately 90 per cent of prophets in the country were fake or were not genuinely born again.
Questioning the basis of the alleged assessment, Owusu Bempah argued that such generalisations unfairly cast doubt on the credibility of the entire prophetic ministry instead of distinguishing genuine ministers from those involved in questionable activities.
He further challenged what he considered inconsistencies in Otabil’s position on spiritual revelations, arguing that the ICGC founder had previously spoken about receiving visions.
Owusu Bempah questioned why Otabil would appear to criticise prophetic revelations when he had reportedly acknowledged experiencing spiritual visions himself.
The controversial preacher also raised questions about the appointment of a pastor identified in previous reports as Prophet Annor to lead an ICGC branch.
He argued that the appointment raised questions about Otabil’s position on prophecy, particularly if the ICGC founder believed that God no longer communicated with believers through prophetic revelations.
Owusu Bempah maintained that Otabil’s public comments appeared inconsistent with the presence of someone identified as a prophet within his church’s leadership structure.
Beyond the allegations, the Glorious Word Power Ministries International founder issued a stern warning to Otabil, threatening to expose information he claimed to have about the renowned preacher and people associated with him.
He insisted that he would not remain silent if Otabil continued making statements he believed were intended to damage the reputation of prophets in Ghana.
The allegations made by Owusu Bempah remain unsubstantiated in the account of his remarks, and no response from Otabil addressing the specific claims has been established in the information provided.
