Police Grab Man Who Shot CEO And Uncle Dead Over Gh¢500k Debt, Find Pistol On Him
Police have arrested the man who allegedly shot and killed a 57-year-old man and his niece at Sakumono over a Gh¢500,000 debt.
The suspect, Osei Anto, was arrested at his hideout at Tikrom, near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region. This was after he allegedly shot 57-year-old George Atubiga and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atubiga, to death on Friday, October 30, 2026.
According to police, the double murder happened because of money.
Preliminary investigations show that George Atubiga had allegedly borrowed Gh¢500,000 from Osei Anto but failed to pay it back.
On the morning of the incident, the suspect reportedly went to the victims’ house at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, to demand his money. He did not go alone. He was accompanied by a 47-year-old woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni.
What started as a demand for money turned bloody. The two family members were shot dead in their own home.
Police say they have retrieved a Smith & Wesson pistol together with seven rounds of live ammunition in connection with the case.
Beatrice Mumuni had already been arrested earlier by the police for her role in the incident.
Osei Anto ran away after the shooting and had been on the police wanted list. Police even placed a Gh¢100,000 reward for anyone who could help arrest him.
He is now in police custody and will be taken to Accra to help with further investigations, while police continue to build their case.
