According to Daily Trust on November 2nd, 2026. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has held a South-East zonal women’s presidential campaign rally in Enugu State as part of efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The rally, which attracted women leaders, party supporters and political stakeholders from across the five South-East states, took place at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, attended the event alongside the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, and other prominent political figures.

The gathering formed part of the activities of the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Women Mobilisation Directorate, which is working to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and encourage women to participate actively in the 2027 electoral process.

Speaking at the rally, Mrs Tinubu urged women across the South-East to support President Tinubu’s re-election, expressing optimism about the country’s economic future following the administration’s ongoing reforms.

In her remarks, the First Lady declared that the difficult period associated with the reforms was gradually giving way to prosperity.

She said: “As the President said, it is time for prosperity. You know, the pain of labour to birth a child is over. It is time for joy and prosperity.”

The event also featured empowerment activities aimed at supporting women through financial assistance and the distribution of business equipment.

According to reports, the Renewed Hope Initiative also plans to extend empowerment support to thousands of women across the South-East.

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and other political leaders highlighted the importance of the Federal Government’s policies and called for continued support for the President.

Governors from Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi states also expressed support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, while Anambra State was represented at the gathering.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, was among the political figures present at the event.

The rally has generated reactions across social media, with Nigerians expressing different opinions about the gathering, the APC’s mobilisation strategy and the party’s political prospects in the South-East.

The photographs from the event have also circulated online, drawing attention to the large gathering of women dressed in coordinated party campaign outfits.

The South-East rally is part of the APC’s broader political mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party seeking to expand its support base across the country’s geopolitical zones.
