Newly Employed Female Banker Found Dead In Her Apartment, Police Hunt Suspect

Residents of a neighbourhood in Accra have been left distressed following the discovery of a young female bank employee’s body inside her rented apartment on Saturday morning. The woman, believed to have been in her late twenties, had recently begun working at a recognised financial institution in the city.

The incident came to light after neighbours noticed that the entrance to her apartment had remained slightly open for several hours. Concerned by the unusual situation, they contacted the landlord, who went to inspect the property. He reportedly found the woman lying lifeless in her bedroom and immediately alerted the authorities.

Police officers who responded to the report examined the scene and observed injuries on the deceased, raising suspicions that her death may have resulted from a criminal act. Initial investigations also suggest that a confrontation could have occurred before she died.

The disappearance of some personal items, including her mobile phone and laptop, has led investigators to consider robbery as a possible motive. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

The Accra Regional Police Command has reportedly begun searching for a key suspect believed to have communicated with the victim shortly before her death. Investigators are also reviewing footage from surveillance cameras around the neighbourhood in an effort to establish the suspect’s movements and identify those involved.

A police representative described the incident as disturbing and said officers were treating it as a homicide case. The spokesperson assured residents that investigators were pursuing available leads to bring the person responsible to justice.

The discovery has caused anxiety among residents, particularly young professionals living alone, with some expressing concern about reported break-ins and violent incidents in the city.

The woman’s colleagues have also been affected by the news, describing her as hardworking, cheerful and committed to her new position. Police have appealed to the public to report suspicious activity and encouraged landlords and tenants to improve residential security.

Her remains have been transferred to the police hospital morgue for an autopsy as investigations continue.
