Matiang’i: A United Opposition Candidate in Brazil Lost Election to Sitting President By a Landslide

Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i has insinuated that the united opposition could still lose to President William Ruto, even if they were to produce a single candidate and make the poll a 2-horse race without splitting of votes.

Matiang’i on Sunday told NTV that the opposition must realise that it is not about a single candidate but the agenda and post 2027 poll matters a lot because Kenyans don’t want to find themselves shouting Wantam in 2028.

To cement his point, Matiang’i has pointed a latest general election in Brazil where a candidate who was backed by the entire opposition to the last man lost the poll to a sitting president who was allegedly dislikes by almost every citizen.

“A united opposition candidate has just lost an election to an incumbent president in Brazil. Politics is very dynamic. The latest credible survey demonstrates very clearly that President Ruto only has one pathway – a split opposition,” Matiang’i said.
