Malema Has Finally Predict Who Will Be Elected As President In ANC 2027 Conference
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has predicted that the African National Congress (ANC) will elect a president who is strongly opposed to the Government of National Unity (GNU) at its 2027 elective conference.
Speaking during a recent media briefing, Malema said internal ANC dynamics and growing discontent among party members would inevitably lead to a leadership change. According to him, this shift would be driven by frustrations over the current GNU arrangement, which has seen the ANC work alongside opposition parties, including the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Malema described the GNU as a “marriage of convenience” that undermines the ANC’s historical role as a champion of the poor. He asserted that many ANC members were disgruntled by the compromises made to accommodate other parties, particularly the DA, which he accused of prioritising corporate interests over the needs of ordinary South Africans.
“The ANC’s rank and file will eventually rebel against the GNU,” Malema stated. “The ANC of 2027 will have no choice but to elect a leader who represents its traditional values and rejects the sell-out nature of this coalition.”
The GNU was formed in the aftermath of the 2024 general elections, which resulted in no single party securing a majority. The ANC, under President Cyril Ramaphosa, entered into coalition talks with various opposition parties to ensure governance continuity. However, the arrangement has faced resistance from factions within the ANC, the broader tripartite alliance, and opposition parties like the EFF.
Malema claimed that the GNU’s instability would worsen as policy disagreements escalate, further alienating the ANC’s grassroots supporters. He maintained that the ANC’s survival beyond 2027 hinges on its ability to reclaim its independence and reconnect with its base.
“The ANC leadership must decide whether to stand with the people or continue pandering to the interests of capital,” he added.
While ANC insiders have downplayed Malema’s remarks, they acknowledge growing tensions within the party. Analysts suggest the outcome of the ANC’s 2027 conference could significantly reshape South Africa’s political landscape.
As the debate around the GNU continues, Malema’s prediction raises critical questions about the coalition’s sustainability and the future direction of the ANC.
