If you have been abroad for long, come home – Medical
According to report by Ghanaweb on Monday 2, November 2026, Ghanaian rapper Medikal has called on Ghanaians living abroad to consider returning home following the tragic death of 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager Javits Frimpong, who was reportedly shot dead in the Bronx, New York.
The rapper made the appeal in a social media post, encouraging Ghanaians who have spent several years living overseas to reconsider their decision to remain abroad and explore opportunities back home in Ghana.
Medikal’s comments come in the wake of the heartbreaking incident involving Javits Frimpong, whose death has renewed concerns about the safety and security of some Ghanaians living outside the country, particularly young people.
In his post, the musician urged his compatriots abroad, especially those who have lived outside Ghana for an extended period, to consider returning and rebuilding their lives in their home country.
He also cited fellow musician Tee Flow as an example, pointing to his recent return to Ghana as an indication that other Ghanaians could make a similar decision.
βTo all my brothers and sisters abroad, if ebi long for outside, come home like my brother Tee Flow just did. We are starting the #Brafie program now. #Brafie,β Medikal wrote.
The rapper’s message has drawn attention to the growing conversation about the decision by many Ghanaians to relocate overseas in search of better opportunities, improved living conditions and financial stability.
While travelling abroad remains an aspiration for many people, Medikal’s appeal suggests that returning to Ghana could also be a worthwhile option, particularly for those who have established themselves overseas but are considering reconnecting with their homeland.
His use of the hashtag #Brafie, which translates to an encouragement to return home, appears to promote a movement urging Ghanaians in the diaspora to consider coming back to contribute to the country’s development.
The tragic death of Javits Frimpong has therefore added a painful dimension to the discussion, with Medikal using the incident to encourage Ghanaians abroad to reconsider their future and the possibility of returning home.
