Govt to Fully Sponsor Mother Of Murdered 15-Year-Old Javits Frimpong To Attend Son’s Funeral In US

Ghana’s government has announced that it will cover the travel expenses of the mother of the late 15-year-old Javits Frimpong to enable her to travel to the United States and attend her son’s funeral.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa disclosed the decision on Sunday, November 1, 2026, explaining that the government would take responsibility for the necessary travel arrangements and related costs.

The intervention is intended to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent the grieving mother from attending the funeral and giving her son a final farewell. Javits reportedly died in a murder incident in the United States, a tragedy that has attracted widespread attention in Ghana.

His death has generated sadness among members of the public, particularly because of his young age and the circumstances surrounding the incident. The case has also highlighted the difficulties families may encounter when a loved one dies outside their home country, especially when international travel is required.

Ablakwa’s announcement means the family will not have to bear the mother’s travel expenses during an already painful period. The support is expected to ease some of the practical challenges facing the family as preparations for the funeral continue.

The minister’s disclosure also reflects the role of Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in assisting citizens and their relatives when difficult situations arise abroad. Such assistance may involve consular support and coordination with relevant authorities.

Although the government’s financial intervention cannot take away the family’s grief, it will help ensure that the mother can be present to mourn her son. The incident has continued to draw public attention, with many following developments surrounding the teenager’s death and the family’s efforts to seek justice.
