FG Introduces USSD Code for Loans Covering Food, Solar, Others

The Federal Government has introduced a new USSD-based credit service that allows Nigerians to access loans without needing a smartphone or internet connection.

The initiative, known as SPARK, was launched by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP). It is designed to expand financial inclusion, especially for first-time borrowers and those with limited or no formal credit history.

Interested users can access the service by dialling 347333# on any mobile phone. The platform enables people to apply for consumer credit and begin building a formal credit history through responsible borrowing and repayment. Successful repayment can improve credit profiles and open doors to larger financing opportunities later.

SPARK forms part of CREDICORP’s wider consumer credit programmes, which support loans for essential needs such as food-related working capital for traders and market women, solar energy systems, productive assets like tricycles for transport operators, youth enterprises, and other goods and services.

The product was unveiled during CREDICORP’s “CREDICORP for All” showcase in Aba, Abia State, where more than 1,000 residents, traders, and artisans explored available credit options. CREDICORP Managing Director Uzoma Nwagba said consumer credit should be available to every working Nigerian rather than a privilege for a few.

The corporation stated that the USSD service is expected to become more widely available nationwide before the end of 2026. Since starting operations, CREDICORP has facilitated more than ₦53.5 billion in consumer credit for over 351,000 Nigerians, with women accounting for about 59 per cent of beneficiaries.
