Da Cruz Praises Chiefs’ First-Half Performance Despite Derby Defeat

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz has praised his team’s first-half performance following their Soweto Derby defeat to Orlando Pirates.

Despite the disappointing result, the coach highlighted the positive aspects of his players’ display and delivered a message of patience and ambition as the team looks to improve.

The Derby was an important test for Amakhosi, who entered the encounter hoping to secure a positive result against their biggest rivals. However, Pirates emerged victorious, leaving Chiefs with plenty to reflect on after the match.

Da Cruz’s comments suggest that he saw encouraging signs in the way his players approached the opening half, even though the overall result did not go in their favour.

The Chiefs coach also emphasised the importance of remaining patient and continuing to work towards the team’s ambitions. He will be hoping that his players can turn the lessons from the defeat into improved performances in their upcoming fixtures.

For the supporters, losing to Pirates is always difficult to accept because of the rivalry between the two Soweto giants. However, the focus will now shift to how the team responds and whether it can regain confidence in the Betway Premiership.

Da Cruz will be under pressure to deliver consistent results, but his message indicates that he wants the squad to remain focused on its long-term objectives rather than allow one defeat to derail its progress.
