Bad News for Sifuna and Gachagua as Kalonzo Receives Strong Political Message Ahead of 2027
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has sent a strong message to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, insisting that he must be on the presidential ballot in the 2027 General Election, whether he agrees or not.
Wavinya maintained that the people of Ukambani are determined to see Kalonzo contest for the country’s top seat after years of supporting other presidential candidates.
Her remarks come as political activities continue gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition leaders holding discussions on how to challenge President William Ruto.
The governor has repeatedly declared her support for Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions and urged the Kamba community to unite behind him.
On October 2, 2026, she called on residents of Ukambani to stand together and protect their political interests, saying the region needed to speak with one voice.
Her latest message also comes at a time when the opposition is facing difficult discussions over who should carry its presidential ticket.
Kalonzo has already made his intentions clear, recently insisting that he will face Ruto at the ballot rather than join his government.
On Sunday, November 1, the Wiper leader rejected calls to work with the President, maintaining that his focus remained on the 2027 presidential race.
However, other opposition figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Jubilee’s Fred Matiang’i and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, have also featured in discussions about the opposition’s political future.
This has made the question of selecting one presidential candidate an important issue within the opposition camp.
Wavinya’s latest remarks show that Kalonzo’s supporters in Ukambani are not ready to abandon his presidential ambitions.
With the 2027 contest approaching, attention will be on whether opposition leaders will unite behind one candidate or pursue separate presidential bids.
