Author Obeng Darko Blasts Father Of Late Javits Frimpong For Taking Son To America To Die

A social commentator and author, Obeng Darko, has sparked serious anger online after blasting the father of the late Javits Frimpong.

Javits Frimpong, a young Ghanaian who moved from Ghana to New York in search of better education, has died.

After his death, Obeng Darko took to social media to criticize the father for taking his son abroad.

In his post, Obeng Darko questioned the whole idea of travelling abroad for a so-called better life.

He asked whether the search for better education and better opportunities in America was really worth the risk.

According to him, parents should stop rushing to take their children abroad and instead allow them to continue their education right here in Ghana.

“Which better life or opportunity? Let these young ones continue their education in Ghana. RIP Frimpong,” he wrote.

While some people agree with him that Ghanaian schools are good enough and that life abroad is not as rosy as people think, many others say his post is insensitive and unfair.

Critics argue that no parent takes their child abroad to die, but to give them a better future. They say blaming a grieving father who has just lost his son is cruel and adds pain to his loss.

Others say his post has opened an important conversation about the real risks young Africans face when they travel abroad chasing greener pastures – racism, pressure, loneliness, and sometimes death.

Javits Frimpong’s death has once again brought back the big question: Is japa really worth it?
