The Portuguese trainer has been accused of assaulting Adade during the Matchday 9 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has subsequently charged Peral over the alleged incident and given him until Wednesday, 4 November 2026, to respond to the charge and present his defence.
In a statement issued on Monday, 2 November, Asante Kotoko acknowledged the incident and confirmed that the coach had accepted that his conduct could have been better.
“The Club acknowledges that football is a highly emotional sport, where tensions can sometimes run high, particularly in moments of intense competition. However, we firmly believe that emotions must never compromise the professionalism, discipline, and respect expected of everyone representing this great institution,” the statement said.
The club added that discussions with Peral had taken place, during which he admitted that he could have handled the situation more professionally.
Kotoko condemned the conduct, insisting it did not reflect the values and standards of the club.
“Consequently, the Club has imposed a fine on Coach Diogo Peral as part of its internal disciplinary measures. This decision reinforces the Club’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and accountability,” the statement added.
The Porcupine Warriors also called on their supporters and stakeholders to continue backing the team as they focus on their objectives for the season.
Peral’s response to the GFA charge will now be crucial as the disciplinary process continues.
