What is there again to be done? – Atta Poku questions Okraku’s third term
Aduana FC Chief Executive Officer Collins Atta Poku has questioned the need for Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku to seek a third term in office, arguing that Ghana football requires a different approach to its development.
Speaking during an interview, Atta Poku said he was not convinced there was more to be achieved under Okraku’s leadership, given what he described as the GFA’s limited capacity to drive the reforms needed to improve the game.
“I don’t want to hear the third-term conversation about Kurt Okraku. What is there again to be done?” he questioned.
The Aduana FC CEO also called for a football governance model that gives local communities a stronger role in the administration and development of the sport.
He argued that rebuilding Ghana football would require more than changes at the leadership level, insisting that communities must feel a genuine sense of ownership and belonging.
“The GFA lacks the capacity to lead the reforms Ghana football needs. To get the game back on its feet, we must give communities a genuine sense of ownership and belonging,” he said.
The debate over Okraku’s future has intensified ahead of the GFA’s next presidential election, scheduled for 2027. The association amended its statutes in 2025 to allow presidents to serve a maximum of three terms, with 114 of the 124 delegates present voting in favour.
Okraku, who became GFA president in October 2019 and secured a second term in 2023, has yet to confirm whether he will contest the next election. He has previously said he would make a decision when the time comes.
