According to a Post on Jennifer oppong official facebook account on Sunday, November 1,2026,Ghanaian social commentator Jennifer Oppong has weighed in on the arrest of a Syrian national in Lebanon over an alleged attempt to transport approximately 40 kilograms of suspected cocaine from Ghana, offering an explanation of the Narcotics Control Commission’s (NACOC) account of the operation.

In a Facebook post, Oppong shared details from NACOC’s statement concerning the arrest, suggesting that some Ghanaians may have been too quick to criticise the commission without first understanding the information it had provided.

According to the statement, the Syrian national travelled from Accra, Ghana, to Beirut, Lebanon, allegedly carrying approximately 40 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed in two suitcases.

The suspect was reportedly arrested at Beirut Airport on October 31, 2026, following a coordinated operation involving Ghanaian and Lebanese authorities.

NACOC further indicated that investigations were ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals suspected of being connected to the alleged drug trafficking operation in Ghana.

Reacting to the development, Oppong suggested that the initial criticism directed at NACOC may have resulted from a misunderstanding of the commission’s statement.

She argued that people should have taken time to read and understand the explanation before rushing to condemn the agency.

A major aspect of her post focused on the meaning of controlled delivery, a law-enforcement technique she described as central to understanding NACOC’s explanation of the operation.

According to Oppong, controlled delivery involves law-enforcement authorities allowing a suspected illegal shipment to continue its journey under surveillance rather than immediately intercepting and confiscating it.
