With dexterity and some sense of candor, he strode purposefully along the red carpet isle to the podium.

His assigned role for the day was unambiguously defined: To unveil the Rainbow Coalition candidates for the 2027 general elections in Rivers State.

But unknown to many, Governor Siminalayi Fubara had a special announcement to make.

First, he took a brisk eye scan through the sea of heads at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, then announced: “I am no more your leader. Stop calling me ‘my leader, my leader’”

The day was Tuesday, October 27, 2026, when a political group formed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, organized a rally which drew participants from the 23 local government areas of the state.

On September 24, in a room on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Nigeria told the world it was the next frontier for global outsourcing.

The Hire From Nigeria campaign, launched in Abuja four weeks earlier and taken to New York by the office of the Vice President, set an initial target of one million export-linked jobs by 2030.

The trade minister, Jumoke Oduwole, was careful to say this was a market-facing economic proposition rather than a communications campaign.

Buried in the same material was the number that should have led every report. Nigeria currently has an estimated 20,000 people working for domestic and international outsourcing firms.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has faulted media reports linking a placard he carried during a prayer walk to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The cleric spoke on Sunday during the church’s November Thanksgiving service, where he accused a journalist of misrepresenting the incident and portraying him as a wicked person for allegedly carrying a placard against the former president.

Recounting how he came across the report, Adeboye said he was initially amused by the claim.

“Recently, somebody wrote in the papers, or said somehow, ‘Pastor Adeboye is a very wicked man. After all, we know that not too long ago, he carried a placard against President Goodluck Jonathan,’” he said.

While admitting that he carried a placard, the cleric insisted that the exercise was a prayer walk and not a protest against Jonathan.

The Igbo community in Kaduna State has endorsed Governor Uba Sani for a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The community announced its support for the governor during its 2026 Igbo Cultural Day celebration held at the Nigerian Correctional Service Staff College, Barnawa, Kaduna, on Saturday.

At the event, Sani, who was represented by the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate, Jerry Adams, donated a brand-new bus and N20m to the community.

Announcing the donations, Adams, on behalf of the governor, said the gesture was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the state government and the Igbo community.
