Reactions As Market Women Handover Babies, Foodstuff, Fruits To Peter Obi During Street Rally In Owe

According to a video shared on X by Peter Akah, a Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate and supporter of Peter Obi, market women in Owerri, Imo State, attracted attention after presenting food items, fruits and their babies to the presidential hopeful during a street rally on Saturday.

The unusual gestures reportedly took place during Obi’s campaign visit to the state capital, where he interacted with residents, market women and other supporters who gathered to welcome him.

In the video circulating on social media, some of the women were seen presenting different food items and fruits to the former Anambra State governor. Others also handed their babies to him as they expressed affection and enthusiasm during his visit.

The moment attracted reactions from supporters, particularly Peter Akah, who shared the footage and expressed excitement over the reception Obi received from the women.

Reacting to the development, Akah suggested that the market women were eager to demonstrate their support for the presidential candidate through the gifts they presented during the rally.

He accompanied the video with a humorous comment, writing, “Owerri Women want to finish their President with food stuff oh,” alongside laughing and heart emojis.

Akah also announced Obi’s arrival in the state capital, using a phrase that reflected his excitement about the campaign visit.

“The Eagle has Landed in Owerri, Imo State,” he wrote.

The NDC supporter further expressed confidence in Obi’s political ambition ahead of the 2027 presidential election, declaring his support through another message.

The footage has since attracted attention on social media, particularly because of the market women’s gestures during the encounter. Their presentation of food items, fruits and babies became one of the notable moments captured during Obi’s visit to Owerri.

The incident also highlighted the warm reception shown to the presidential candidate by some residents and supporters during the street mobilisation exercise.
