“R3million Coming From MKP Account To Thalente Myeni Every Month” Nomvalo Reportedly Revealed
Former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Secretary-General Sibonelo Nomvalo has made serious allegations of financial misconduct within the party, claiming that at least R3 million was allegedly transferred every month from the organisation’s accounts to business bank accounts linked to Thalente Myeni, the son of the late former South African Airways (SAA) chairperson Dudu Myeni.
Nomvalo made the allegations during a media briefing on Friday, 30 October 2026, following his removal from the position of secretary-general and the party’s parliamentary caucus.
According to Nomvalo, the alleged monthly transactions involved money being moved from MK Party organisational accounts into business accounts reportedly associated with a company belonging to Thalente Myeni.
He suggested that individuals benefiting from informal power structures within the party were responsible for the alleged financial arrangements and were resisting efforts to introduce proper institutional controls and accountability.
Nomvalo reportedly said that his attempts to institutionalise the organisation had placed him at odds with individuals who were allegedly benefiting from the existing arrangements.
He also suggested that the alleged financial activities were among the reasons certain individuals were uncomfortable with his efforts to strengthen accountability within the party.
Thalente Myeni is the son of the late Dudu Myeni, who previously served as chairperson of South African Airways and was a close associate of former president Jacob Zuma.
Dudu Myeni was also a prominent figure in the State Capture Inquiry, where evidence concerning financial transactions involving her son’s business attracted considerable attention.
During the Zondo Commission hearings, investigators examined payments exceeding R3 million made by Thalente Myeni’s company, Premier Attraction 1016, to a construction company.
Evidence presented to the commission indicated that some of the money was subsequently transferred to the Jacob Zuma Foundation, allegedly following instructions from Dudu Myeni.
The commission’s report recommended further investigation into the flow of the funds to establish whether there had been a corrupt relationship between the parties involved.
However, Nomvalo’s latest allegation concerns alleged monthly transfers from MK Party accounts, which is a separate matter from the transactions examined during the State Capture Inquiry.
The former secretary-general has not publicly provided a complete breakdown of the alleged monthly payments or supporting banking documents to independently establish the transactions.
His revelations have raised questions about the financial management of the MK Party, particularly regarding how organisational funds are authorised, distributed and monitored.
Nomvalo has also accused certain senior party figures of feeding Jacob Zuma fabricated intelligence reports and misleading information in an effort to turn the party president against him.
He maintains that his intention was to protect the organisation and strengthen its internal structures rather than pursue personal political interests.
The MK Party has previously cited internal organisational disagreements, candidate selection disputes, factionalism and other administrative concerns when announcing Nomvalo’s removal.
It remains to be seen whether the MK Party will respond to the latest financial allegations and whether documentary evidence will emerge to establish the alleged R3 million monthly transfers.
