Primate Ayodele Sends Warning to Atiku, Claims ‘The Election Will Be Nullified If He Wins’
Primate Elijah Ayodele in a video shared on Facebook on Sunday November 1, 2026 has warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar about the possibility of his election victory being nullified if he wins the 2027 presidential election, drawing a comparison with the controversial annulment of Nigeria’s June 12, 1993 presidential election.
The cleric made the statement in a prophetic alert video, while speaking about Atiku and the possible outcome of the forthcoming presidential contest.
In his message, Ayodele cautioned the former vice president against assuming that winning the election would automatically guarantee that he would take office, suggesting that events could unfold in a manner similar to what happened after the 1993 presidential election.
“If Atiku wins, what happened in 1993 will happen. They will nullify that election. Atiku, mark my words,” Ayodele said.
His warning directly referenced the June 12, 1993 election, which was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most significant democratic contests. The election was contested by Moshood Abiola of the Social Democratic Party and Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention.
Although Abiola was widely acknowledged as the winner based on the available results, the military government led by General Ibrahim Babangida annulled the election, triggering widespread political tension and protests across the country.
The annulment became a defining moment in Nigeria’s political history and remains an important reference point in discussions about electoral credibility, democracy and the transfer of political power.
By invoking the events of 1993, Ayodele suggested that Atiku could face a similar situation if he emerges victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku is among the major political figures preparing for the 2027 contest. He is listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, with former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate.
The political atmosphere ahead of the election has continued to attract attention, particularly as opposition parties and their candidates prepare to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress.
