NPP’s Kwadwo Yeboah Backs Mahama for Third-Term Bid, Says No NDC Figure Matches His Popularity

NPP’s Kwadwo Yeboah Backs Mahama for Third-Term Bid, Says No NDC Figure Matches His Popularity

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Organiser for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Kwadwo Yeboah, has sparked political debate after suggesting that President John Dramani Mahama remains the only National Democratic Congress (NDC) figure with enough public appeal to secure victory for the party in the 2028 general elections.

According to Kwadwo Yeboah, no other prominent member of the governing NDC currently possesses the political popularity and nationwide support that President Mahama enjoys. He argued that the President stands out among the party’s political figures and remains the strongest candidate capable of attracting more votes in the next general election.

Speaking on Kessben Maakye in Accra, the former NPP youth organiser made the comments while discussing the political future of the NDC and the possibility of President Mahama seeking another term in office.

Yeboah’s remarks have brought renewed attention to discussions surrounding a possible third-term ambition for Mahama, particularly as political parties gradually begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2028 elections.

He suggested that the NDC could face a difficult task identifying another candidate who can match Mahama’s electoral appeal and ability to mobilise supporters across the country.

The comments are particularly significant because they are coming from a former member of the opposition NPP, rather than someone from the governing party. His assessment could therefore generate further conversations about Mahama’s political influence and the strength of the NDC’s leadership beyond his presidency.

However, the question of who will lead the NDC into the 2028 elections remains an important issue for the party, especially as discussions about succession and future leadership continue.

Yeboah’s statement is expected to attract reactions from both NDC and NPP supporters, particularly those debating whether Mahama remains the party’s most electorally viable figure.
