“I Have Fought a Good Fight” — PCEA Pastor Fears for His Life After Hosting Gachagua at His Church
A PCEA preacher in Kiambu County has revealed that he received threats ahead of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s visit to his church, raising questions about the growing political tensions surrounding the opposition leader.
Reverend James Kabue of PCEA Kamangu Town Church in Kikuyu made the revelations on Sunday, November 1, after hosting Gachagua and his team despite the alleged warnings.
According to Kabue, the threats started on Thursday, days before the planned church visit. He disclosed that the messages left him stressed and worried about his personal safety.
At one point, the preacher reportedly left his church and attended a service at another place using a friend’s vehicle. He wanted to avoid attracting attention before Gachagua arrived.
However, as news of the former deputy president’s expected visit spread, Kabue decided to return and welcome him rather than cancel the planned meeting.
While addressing Gachagua, the reverend said he and the church elders stood with him. He also made it clear that he was prepared to face any consequences arising from his decision.
Kabue said he was not afraid of losing his position or facing other disciplinary action because of hosting the former deputy president.
“Whatever happens to me, I do not care,” he declared, adding that he was ready to face the outcome of his decision.
He also quoted a Bible verse about fighting a good fight, finishing the race and keeping the faith, explaining his determination to stand by his decision.
The incident comes amid heightened political activity as Gachagua continues his engagements with supporters and opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election.
His church visits and public meetings have continued to attract attention, particularly as political divisions between his camp and President William Ruto’s administration remain a major subject of national debate.
However, Kabue did not reveal who allegedly issued the threats or provide further details about their source.
His revelations have now sparked questions about the circumstances surrounding the church visit and the alleged warnings.
