Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla Attends EFF’s Final Election Rally in Soweto
Thousands of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters gathered at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday for the party’s final Tshela Thupa Rally ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. The event, which attracted a large crowd dressed in the party’s trademark red attire, served as the EFF’s last major public gathering before voters head to the polls.
Among those in attendance was Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of former South African president Jacob Zuma. Her appearance at the rally quickly became a talking point among supporters and political observers, with many expressing surprise at seeing her at one of the EFF’s most significant campaign events.
Witnesses at the stadium reported spotting Zuma-Sambudla seated among delegates as supporters filled the venue from the early hours of the morning. Although many attendees wore red clothing and party regalia in a show of support for the EFF, Zuma-Sambudla was seen wearing dark glasses and a black jacket, making her stand out from the sea of red surrounding her.
Her presence generated considerable interest throughout the stadium, with many supporters speculating about the significance of her attendance. Political figures from different parties appearing at major campaign events often attract attention, particularly during an election period when political alliances and relationships are frequently discussed by voters.
The rally itself marked a crucial moment for the EFF’s election campaign. Party leader Julius Malema was expected to use the platform to deliver his final address to supporters before voting commences. Such gatherings play an important role in energising party members, outlining campaign priorities and encouraging voter turnout.
Throughout the campaign period, the EFF has focused on a range of issues affecting local communities, including service delivery, job creation, housing and municipal governance. The party has consistently used mass rallies to communicate its message directly to supporters and reinforce its political agenda ahead of elections.
Orlando Stadium provided a fitting venue for the event, with thousands of supporters singing party songs, waving flags and creating a lively atmosphere as they awaited speeches from EFF leaders. The high turnout reflected the significance of the rally, which represented the final opportunity for the party to showcase its support base before election day.
While Zuma-Sambudla’s appearance undoubtedly attracted attention, the central focus of the rally remained the EFF’s efforts to mobilise supporters and secure votes. Party officials and volunteers used the gathering to encourage supporters to participate in the democratic process and to ensure maximum turnout at voting stations.
