Davido predicts global sellouts for joint tour with Wizkid

Afrobeats singer Davido has expressed confidence that a joint tour with fellow Nigerian musician Wizkid would sell out venues worldwide, saying he would charge $500,000 for each performance.

Davido made this known during an appearance on the IONWANNATALK show, where he discussed the possibility of recording music and embarking on a tour with Wizkid.

The singer, however, expressed uncertainty about whether a joint song with Wizkid would become a hit, citing the collaboration between D’banj and 2Baba as an example.

“If Wizkid and I do a song together, I don’t know if it will pop because when D’banj and 2Baba did a record together, it didn’t really pop,” Davido said.

He was more confident about the prospect of touring together, saying: “If we tour together, I’ll ask for $500,000 per show because I know every venue will sell out.”

Davido also disclosed that he and Wizkid had not recorded a song together in about 10 years, explaining that their failure to collaborate was not because they were unable to work together.

According to him, they had simply not been in the same mental space, while opinions remain divided over whether their rivalry has contributed to their individual success or whether working together would boost their careers.

Speaking about moving past disagreements, Davido said maturity was necessary to acknowledge when one’s feelings about another person had changed.

“I felt that way at some point but not anymore, and it takes a great man to do that,” he said.

The singers’ rivalry, which dates back more than a decade, has been marked by public exchanges, social media confrontations and competition between their fan bases.

Their differences became a subject of public discussion around 2014, when a post by Wizkid after a concert in New York was interpreted by some fans as a dig at Davido. Both singers later exchanged remarks online, including in 2017, when Wizkid referred to Davido’s voice as a ‘frog voice’.

In 2018, Davido said they had decided to move past their disagreements after tensions between their camps reportedly became physical. The two subsequently performed at each other’s concerts in Lagos.

In January 2023, Wizkid announced plans for a joint tour with Davido after his More Love, Less Ego tour, asking fans to save their money. However, the proposed tour did not happen.

Their rivalry resurfaced publicly in April 2024 when both singers exchanged insults on X, formerly Twitter. Wizkid shared a video of Davido kneeling and crying, while Davido responded with comments about Wizkid’s music and career.

They reignited the exchange again in July 2025 through social media posts, with both making remarks about their standing in the Nigerian music industry.
