Check Out These Pre-Detty December Events Happening In November

Lagos is gearing up for the excitement of Detty December, but before that, November is a month packed with events that unite the creative industry. From art to fashion to music and film, there’s something for everyone. 

The 15th edition of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) is kicking off the November events that precede the excitement of Detty December. Running for a full week, from the 1st to the 7th of November, it is for film and cinema enthusiasts who want to get into the industry, are already in it, or want to enjoy what it offers. 

FramExpo West Africa is a showcase that connects global manufacturers, suppliers, and solution providers in film, broadcast, and media technology with local buyers, filmmakers, and broadcasters, bridging equipment and funding gaps. Attendees can test cameras and gear hands-on before purchasing, and it is set for the 2nd to 4th of November. 

Opening on the 3rd of November and running to the 8th, this is Africa’s largest open-access multidisciplinary arts festival and creative marketplace. It is the perfect intersection of fun, networking and educational activities. 

Taking place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, this arts, entertainment, fashion, music, literature, and all-round diverse event is perfect for most industries within the creative space. It is the best way to begin your pre-Detty December celebration, and it is set for the 5th-8th of November.

Art X Lagos is returning for its 2026 edition from the 5th to the 8th of November, with the theme A New Chapter, A New Decade.” It is the perfect event for artists, art enthusiasts, and people exploring the intersection of arts and film. While Detty December is filled with concerts, November introduces Art November through events like this. 

For fashion lovers who want to enjoy runway shows from their favourite designers and mingle with other fashion enthusiasts, GTCO Fashion Weekend happens the first full weekend in November, 7th-8th, and is a perfect way to begin your Detty December celebrations. 

Lagos has many fun events curated for pre-Detty December and Detty December itself, but it also hosts serious events like NEClive, where conversations focus on bringing Nigeria’s entertainment and creative industries together to explore how local demand can become global power. This is slated for the 12th of November.

Like CANEX, it aims to bring together Africa’s music, film, tech, creative, and fashion industries. It is slated for the 17th- 22nd of November and is one of the most diverse events happening this month.
