Breaking: Mosimane Dragged Into R1.25 Million Legal Battle As Iranian Agent Demands Commission

The transfer of Pitso Mosimane to the Iranian football club Esteghlal has re-engulfed South African football due to a commission dispute involving R1.25 million and the subsequent legal controversy.Iranian football agent Hamed Ghadiri is at the center of this case; he is suing the Iranian club that he helped transfer Mosimane to, claiming he was not paid for his services.

The case is currently underway in Johannesburg High Court.Ghadiri claims in court documents cited by the Sunday Times that MT Sports Marketing and Management, Moira Tlhagale’s sports management company, gave him permission to start talks with Esteghlal regarding the appointment of Mosimane and his technical staff in October 2024.Ghadiri claims that on October 18, 2024, Mosimane accepted a job offer from the Iranian club through his connections and signed a contract.

The central dispute in the legal dispute is Esteghlal’s alleged expectation of an agent’s fee of $100,000 (equivalent to approximately R1.6 million).Ghadiri claims that MT Sports offered him $75,000 (or 75% of the anticipated agency fee) to assist with deal negotiations. The agent has done all that was required of him and had a hand in securing the agreement, but he still claims he deserves the payment.

The court documents state that Ghadiri relied on a WhatsApp message allegedly sent by Mosimane on February 28, 2025.From the agent’s point of view, Mosimane assured him that his wife would handle the overdue payment. In addition, Ghadiri claims that Mosimane promised to settle his dispute with Esteghlal over outstanding salaries through the appropriate football channels before addressing the commission issue.Tlhagale and MT Sports have both denied the agent’s claims, which has made the situation even more complicated. In their response to the Johannesburg High Court, Tlhagale and her company assert that they have acknowledged Ghadiri’s introduction of Mosimane to Esteghlal.

They claim that his authority was limited to informing the Iranian club of his interest in coaching them and that was his only responsibility. They assert that he was not authorized to proceed with contract finalization, negotiations, or collection of agency fees.Defendants Tlhagale and Alfonso Leon Lleo assert that the following negotiations were handled by another agent registered with FIFA.There is yet another major disagreement involving the supposed service agreement. According to Tlhagale and MT Sports, the document is invalid because the right people never signed it. Conversely, Ghadiri insists that it proved his commission entitlement.Furthermore, they assert that the agency fee was not paid to MT Sports until the funds were sent by Esteghlal.

A lack of payment or refusal to pay the anticipated fee by the Iranian club prevented the business from receiving the money owed to Ghadiri, according to their court documents. The controversy has attracted attention because Mosimane’s appointment at Esteghlal was previously accompanied by financial troubles. The coach and his technical staff departed from the Iranian club in January 2025 as a result of unresolved salary concerns.

According to his management company, efforts to resolve the matter had not led to the settlement of the outstanding salaries. The financial details of that appointment have once again come under scrutiny due to recent court actions. The alleged contractual entitlement, the extent of the agent’s authority, and the fulfillment of payment conditions are the current issues in the Johannesburg High Court case.In this case, neither the accusers nor MT Sports have done anything wrong.

The parties’ respective responsibilities under the contract will be determined by the court.Consequently, Mosimane’s short time playing football for Iran is also entangled in a lawsuit over an R1.25 million commission; the outcome of this lawsuit will probably reveal who helped get Esteghlal appointed.
