Alan is not going back to the NPP, never! – Solomon Owusu

United Party (UP) Director of Communications Solomon Owusu has dismissed claims that Alan Kyerematen is negotiating a return to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), insisting that the former Trade Minister remains committed to the new political movement.

Owusu described reports that Alan was seeking to rejoin the NPP as a vice-presidential candidate as scandalous, arguing that his decision to leave the party and help establish the UP contradicts the claims.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, he said Alan had already made his position clear during an earlier interview and was not suggesting that he wanted to return to the NPP.

“Alan was only saying that I’m not going back to the NPP anytime, anywhere,” Owusu said, explaining that the comments being interpreted as an indication of a possible return were rhetorical.

He compared Alan’s response to someone being asked whether they would accept a job at a company that could never afford their proposed salary.

Owusu also questioned why Alan would have spent time building a new political party if his intention was to return to the NPP shortly after the 2024 elections.

“Somebody that really wanted to go back to the NPP right after the 2024 election would have gone back to the NPP and not led in the formation of a new political party called the United Party,” he argued.
