Abdeslam Ouaddou Praises Kaizer Chiefs Technical Team After Orlando Pirates’ Derby Victory

In a show of sportsmanship and mutual respect, Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised the technical team of their arch-rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, following an important derby victory over the Glamour Boys.

The Pirates coach’s comments have attracted attention, particularly because positive remarks between coaches from two of South Africa’s biggest football rivals are not always common. Despite the intense competition surrounding matches between the two Soweto giants, Ouaddou demonstrated that respect for opponents remains an important part of football.

The derby victory was a significant moment for Orlando Pirates, who managed to overcome Kaizer Chiefs in a fixture that carried enormous expectations from supporters of both clubs. Matches between these traditional rivals are usually highly competitive, with both teams determined to secure bragging rights and deliver a memorable performance for their fans.

However, beyond the result on the pitch, Ouaddou’s reaction highlighted another side of the rivalry. Rather than concentrating exclusively on his team’s achievement, the Pirates manager took time to acknowledge the work of the opposing technical staff.

His recognition of the Kaizer Chiefs coaching department suggests that he understands the challenges involved in preparing a team for such an important encounter. Derby matches require careful planning, tactical discipline and the ability to manage pressure, especially when the expectations of supporters are extremely high.

For Kaizer Chiefs, the defeat will undoubtedly provide areas to examine as the technical team continues working towards improving the club’s performances. Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates will be encouraged by their derby success as they look to maintain their competitive momentum.

Ouaddou’s gesture also sends a positive message about the relationship between professional coaches, showing that fierce competition does not have to eliminate mutual appreciation.

Although Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs remain determined rivals, moments like this remind football supporters that respect and professionalism should remain part of the game. His comments have therefore added an interesting talking point following a derby that was already attracting considerable attention.
