Two Shot Dead at Sakumono Over Alleged GH¢500,000 Debt as Police Hunt Main Suspect

A reported debt dispute involving GH¢500,000 has been linked to the tragic shooting deaths of two family members at the NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Greater Accra Region.

The victims have been identified as 57-year-old George Atuguba and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, who were reportedly shot dead at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The incident has shocked residents and brought renewed attention to the circumstances surrounding the deadly attack, as the Ghana Police Service intensifies efforts to arrest those suspected of being involved.

According to the information surrounding the case, the killings are believed to be connected to a financial disagreement involving GH¢500,000. However, the full circumstances of the alleged debt dispute and what led to the shooting have yet to be officially established.

Following the incident, the Ghana Police Service declared Samuel Christopher Osei Anto wanted in connection with the deaths of George and Irene Atuguba. He is currently being sought by investigators as the main suspect in the case.

The police have also taken Beatrice Mumuni into custody over allegations that she led Samuel Christopher Osei Anto to the victims’ residence before the shooting. Her alleged role is expected to form part of the ongoing investigation as authorities work to establish exactly what happened.

In an effort to secure the arrest of the wanted suspect, the police have announced a GH¢100,000 reward for anyone who provides credible information leading to his arrest.

Members of the public who may know his whereabouts have been urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the police through their emergency numbers, 191 or 18555.

The reward is part of efforts to encourage public cooperation and help investigators locate the suspect without further delay.

Meanwhile, the deaths of George Atuguba and his niece have raised serious concerns about the reported circumstances of the attack, particularly the alleged connection to a financial disagreement.

As investigations continue, the police are expected to gather more evidence, establish the individual roles of those connected to the incident and determine the events that led to the deaths of the two relatives.

For now, attention remains on the search for Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, while the public awaits further information from the Ghana Police Service regarding the investigation.
