Tinubu Announces Six New Appointments
President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), seeking Senate approval for their appointments.
The Presidentâs Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, three of the nominees are returning officials, while the remaining three are new appointments. All six will serve five-year terms if confirmed by the Senate.
The returning directors are Abiodun Adeniji, who oversees Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, responsible for Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, who heads Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib for Corporate Services and Administration.
Tinubu has urged the Senate to consider the nominations promptly, saying the appointments would help maintain continuity and strengthen the authorityâs regulatory responsibilities.
The President has also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Authorityâs Legal Adviser. Her appointment is subject to the completion of the statutory requirements under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
The latest nominations follow Tinubuâs appointment of Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the NMDPRAâs chief executive in April.
