Police Arrest Woman, 47, Over Killing of Shea Butter CEO and Uncle at Sakumono Estate

The Ghana Police Service has arrested 47-year-old Beatrice Mumuni in connection with the murder of Kussa Shea Bliss Chief Executive Officer Irene Atubiga and her uncle, George Atubiga, at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, on October 30, 2026.

According to police sources, Mumuni was taken into custody after investigators found inconsistencies in her account of events surrounding the tragic incident. She is believed to have been at the residence shortly before the bodies of the two victims were discovered, making her a person of significant interest in the ongoing investigation.

The double murder has shocked Ghana’s growing shea butter industry, where Irene Atubiga was widely regarded as an ambitious and rising entrepreneur. She had built Kussa Shea Bliss into a promising brand with plans for continental expansion. Her uncle, George Atubiga, was described as a trusted adviser who supported the business closely.

Police have not yet disclosed a possible motive for the killings, but sources close to the case say investigators are examining financial matters and questions surrounding the company’s succession. Forensic teams have been working at the scene to gather evidence that could shed light on the final hours before the tragedy.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the families of the deceased of a thorough and transparent investigation. It has also urged the public to avoid speculation that could interfere with the case.

Tributes have begun pouring in for Irene Atubiga and her uncle, with industry players calling for justice and expressing concern over the safety of entrepreneurs. Mumuni remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned in the coming days as investigations continue.
