‘Nigeria Sitting on Economic Time Bomb’: Primate Ayodele Warns of More Hardship, Fresh Taxes Ahead

According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday October 31, 2026, the spiritual leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned that Nigeria could face more severe economic difficulties, predicting increased hardship and additional taxes that may further burden struggling households.

Ayodele issued the warning in a video shared on social media on Saturday, describing the country’s economic situation as a ticking time bomb that could explode if urgent measures are not taken.

According to the cleric, the difficulties currently confronting Nigerians could worsen significantly, particularly as the government prepares to introduce additional taxes that may deepen the financial pressure on low-income earners.

He cautioned that ordinary citizens would bear much of the burden, warning that the consequences of further economic pressure could become increasingly difficult for households already struggling to meet their basic needs.

“Nigeria is sitting on an economic time bomb that could explode. The hardship Nigerians are experiencing now is nothing compared to the extraordinary hardship still coming. The government will implement more taxes,” he said.

The cleric further warned that the country’s economic challenges could reach a breaking point if the authorities failed to respond to the growing concerns of citizens.

He also suggested that the situation could deteriorate further in 2027, urging Nigerians to prepare for what he described as more difficult economic conditions.

Ayodele called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to pay attention to public concerns and reconsider policies that could intensify the hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians.

The cleric is widely known for making controversial prophecies on Nigeria’s political and economic affairs, with his public predictions frequently attracting attention and reactions across the country.
