Kilifi Notorious Phone Snatcher Punched To Death After Snatching Phone From A Motorist

A suspected phone snatcher has reportedly died after being confronted while attempting to escape with a mobile phone he allegedly stole from a motorist in Kilifi, Kenya.

The incident has attracted attention on social media after CCTV footage showing the moments leading up to the confrontation circulated online. The footage reportedly captures three young men moving around a shopping centre before one of them approaches a motorist and snatches his phone.

According to reports, the three men were seen moving between the front of the shopping centre and a nearby backstreet before the incident. Their movements appeared suspicious, with one of the individuals seemingly signalling another to check the surroundings and identify a potential target.

The situation reportedly unfolded when the group spotted a motorist who had parked his vehicle outside a shop to purchase an item. The driver was arranging some belongings inside his car while using his mobile phone, apparently unaware that someone was approaching him from behind.

Within seconds, one of the suspected thieves allegedly grabbed the phone and attempted to flee the scene. However, his escape was reportedly interrupted when a shopkeeper noticed what had happened and intervened.

Moments later, a physically built man confronted the suspect and allegedly struck him on the head with a heavy punch, leaving him unconscious. The confrontation quickly attracted the attention of people nearby, who gathered to establish what had happened.

The suspected phone snatcher was reportedly left motionless following the incident. A good Samaritan is said to have stepped forward to assist him and arrange for him to receive medical attention.

However, the young man was reportedly pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The incident has raised concerns about phone snatching and the dangers associated with confrontations between suspected criminals and members of the public. While residents may be frustrated by street crime, such incidents can quickly turn fatal.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death, including whether police have launched an investigation or made any arrests, remain unclear from the available reports. Further official information is needed to establish the full details of the incident.
