Kalonzo Cries Out Over Abandonment, Insists He Will Contest 2027 Presidency
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has complained about being left alone by some of his political allies, even as he dismissed calls for him to abandon the opposition and join President William Ruto’s camp.
Kalonzo expressed frustration over what he described as a lack of support from people he had expected to stand with him politically. His remarks come amid growing divisions within opposition ranks as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Despite the pressure, the former Vice President maintained that he would not abandon the opposition. He insisted that his focus remained on the presidential race and reaffirmed his intention to contest the 2027 election.
Kalonzo’s declaration signals that he is not ready to step aside as political parties and leaders continue negotiations over a possible united opposition candidate.
He also turned his criticism towards religious leaders, questioning their conduct and involvement in the country’s political affairs. His remarks added another dimension to the ongoing debate about the role of religious institutions in national leadership and political accountability.
The Wiper leader’s statements come at a time when opposition politicians are facing pressure to settle their differences and agree on a common strategy against Ruto’s re-election bid.
His position also puts him at the centre of the debate over who should carry the opposition’s presidential ticket in 2027.
