I Hope He Comes Back Quickly — Abdeslam Ouaddou Drops Urgent Demand Over Pirates Star’s Future

Ouaddou Sends Strong Message to Bafana Bafana After Moremi’s Pirates Heroics

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised Tshepang Moremi for his impressive performances, expressing hope that the winger will soon return to the Bafana Bafana national team after delivering a match-winning display in the Carling Knockout Cup.

Moremi was among the standout performers as the Buccaneers secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Milford FC in their last-16 encounter at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday night. The 26-year-old scored twice and provided an assist, helping the defending champions advance to the quarter-finals while strengthening his case for more international opportunities.

The former AmaZulu winger played a crucial role in Pirates’ attacking performance, setting up Thapelo Mokobodi for the opening goal before finding the back of the net himself twice in the first half.

His contribution took his tally to seven goals across all competitions this season, underlining his growing importance to the Soweto giants as they continue competing for silverware on multiple fronts.

Speaking after the match, Ouaddou expressed satisfaction with Moremi’s development, particularly his work rate, commitment and ability to make a difference in important matches.

“Well done for him,” the Pirates coach said, acknowledging the winger’s contribution to the team’s success.

“What I like with Moremi, is we cannot reproach him in every game, the fighting spirit, running, doing everything, and I’m happy for him.”

Ouaddou also made it clear that he believes the talented attacker deserves another opportunity to represent South Africa at international level.

“I’m happy that he’s scoring, and I hope quickly that he is coming back to the national team because he’s a major player for South Africa,” he added.

The Pirates mentor’s comments come after Moremi was left without playing time during Bafana Bafana’s recent 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea and Eritrea, despite being involved in the national setup and featuring in the international friendly against Egypt.

Ouaddou admitted that the situation had frustrated him, insisting that Moremi possesses the qualities needed to contribute positively to the national team.

The coach believes the winger’s consistency, determination and attacking threat make him an important option for both club and country.

For Moremi, his recent performances provide a timely reminder of his quality as he continues pushing for greater recognition on the international stage.

With Pirates aiming to defend their Carling Knockout Cup title and remain competitive in other competitions, his goalscoring form could prove vital in the coming weeks.

Moremi will now hope to maintain his impressive performances and convince Bafana Bafana’s technical team that he deserves a more prominent role in the national setup.
