The medals were secured by three Ghanaian athletes competing in the Masters division, giving the country an encouraging beginning at the international tournament.
Ghana’s medal-winning performance was led by Grace Minta, a Ghana Police Service officer and African armwrestling champion. She delivered an outstanding performance in the Masters Women’s 80kg category, winning silver medals in both the left-arm and right-arm competitions.
Her achievement accounted for two of Ghana’s four medals and further demonstrated her experience and ability to compete against some of the best armwrestlers in the world.
Florence Boakye Mensah, another Ghana Police Service athlete, also contributed to the country’s medal tally. She secured silver in the Masters Women’s over-80kg left-arm competition after finishing second in her category.
Dodzi Asinu completed Ghana’s impressive medal haul by winning silver in the Masters Men’s 110kg right-arm event.
Five Ghanaian athletes initially represented the country in the Masters category on the opening day. They were Grace Minta, Comfort Dunyo, Florence Boakye Mensah, Edward Yamoah Asamoah and Dodzi Asinu.
