Nollywood actress Doris Ogala’s public feud with Lagos-based cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor, has taken a dramatic turn, with the actress remaining in custody after a Federal High Court in Lagos reserved its ruling on her bail application until November 6.
Ogala, who was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Wednesday, October 28, appeared before Justice Akintayo Aluko on Friday, where she reportedly knelt before the court to apologise for her conduct during an earlier sitting.
The actress, who is facing a three-count charge bordering on alleged cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion involving Okafor, expressed remorse and pleaded for forgiveness, promising not to repeat the behaviour that disrupted the previous proceedings.
She had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against her by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
At the initial proceedings, prosecution counsel, Tolulope Mokolu, alleged that Ogala published intimate photographs of the cleric on her social media accounts without his consent between September 2024 and March 2026.
The prosecution also accused her of circulating videos, recordings and electronic messages allegedly containing false information intended to harass, intimidate and damage the pastor’s reputation.
Another allegation bordered on threats to release further damaging and intimate materials unless Okafor compensated her or bought her a house.
Ogala’s counsel, Marshal Abubakar, had opposed her continued detention, urging the court to grant her bail and assuring that she would be available for subsequent proceedings.
However, Justice Aluko ordered her remand after holding that the defence had not presented sufficient grounds for her immediate release, while directing an accelerated hearing of the bail application.
At Friday’s sitting, the prosecution reportedly urged the court to impose strict conditions should bail be granted, including restrictions on contact with witnesses and social media publications capable of interfering with the proceedings.
The judge subsequently reserved his ruling on the bail application until November 6, leaving the actress in custody pending the decision.
The legal battle is the latest development in a highly publicised fallout between Ogala and Okafor, which started in 2025.
The actress had publicly spoken about her alleged relationship with the cleric, making claims surrounding their personal dealings and the circumstances of their separation. The dispute generated widespread reactions online, with the actress repeatedly drawing attention to the pastor through her social media posts.
Ogala has also attracted attention beyond the entertainment industry following her emergence as the African Action Congress governorship candidate for Abia State ahead of the 2027 election.
In some of her recent Instagram posts, she maintained that she would not be intimidated and alleged that some individuals were afraid of what she knew about them. She also claimed that efforts were being made to frustrate her governorship ambition.
However, the claims remain her own assertions and have not been established as facts in the court proceedings.
