Breaking: Drama at Jacaranda as ODM Rally Ends Abruptly in Chaos

Drama unfolded at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday, October 31, after the ODM rally was suddenly disrupted, forcing leaders and supporters to scramble for safety.

What had started as a major political gathering took an unexpected turn when unfamiliar individuals reportedly stormed the stage and grabbed the microphone while party leaders were introducing themselves.

According to reports, confusion quickly spread across the grounds as those present tried to understand what was happening. Some leaders and residents were seen scrambling for safety as panic engulfed the gathering.

One of the individuals who took the microphone was heard telling the crowd, “Msitoroke,” adding to the confusion surrounding the incident.

It was not immediately clear who the individuals were, what motivated their actions or what triggered the disruption. Further details about the incident were still emerging as of Saturday evening.

The incident came during an important ODM gathering organised to mark the conclusion of Mwezi wa Baba, a month-long programme dedicated to remembering the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who died on October 15, 2025.

Thousands of supporters had turned up at Jacaranda Grounds for the event, which also brought together several senior party officials and political leaders.

Among those who attended were Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kisii Governor Simba Arati, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

The gathering also provided a platform for leaders to discuss ODM’s political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election, particularly its ongoing negotiations with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance.

ODM has maintained that any political cooperation with UDA must involve clear conditions and negotiations.

The unexpected disruption therefore became another major talking point from Saturday’s gathering, which had attracted considerable public attention.

More details are expected to emerge regarding the incident and the people involved.
