BREAKING: 23-Year-Old Woman Arrested After Dashcam Captures Robbery of E-Hailing Driver in Hillbrow

Hillbrow police have arrested a 23-year-old woman in connection with the robbery of an e-hailing driver, an incident that was captured on dashcam footage and subsequently circulated widely on social media.

The arrest was made on Saturday, 31 October 2026, following investigations into the robbery, which occurred on Friday, 30 October, in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the e-hailing driver was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash during the incident. The robbery was recorded by the vehicle’s dashboard camera, with footage later spreading across social media platforms.

Following the incident, the victim approached the police and formally opened a robbery case.

In response, Hillbrow Acting Station Commander Colonel Marite established a dedicated task team to investigate robberies within the Hillbrow policing precinct and ensure that those responsible are brought before the courts.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of the 23-year-old suspect on Saturday.

However, police have confirmed that the investigation is far from over, as two additional suspects believed to have participated in the robbery are still being sought.

Authorities are continuing efforts to track down the outstanding suspects and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The arrested woman is expected to appear before the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 2 November 2026.

Police have urged the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.

Investigations are ongoing, and the arrested suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
